Whether ministering through the welcome team ministry, singing in the choir or rocking a baby – your involvement is vital to the life of First Baptist Church. Please look at some of the opportunities to get connected. If you have questions please let us know. We’d love to have you be part of the team.
VIP | Volunteers In Preschool
Our Volunteers in Preschool are definitely VIPs to us. VIPs serve on a rotating basis in the preschool/baby rooms during our worship services. Most of our parents of preschoolers take their turn serving but it is great to have additional volunteers so parents can participate in worship with the “big people.” For more information about serving as a VIP, contact Jenna.
The First Baptist golf cart provides needed (and sometimes simply fun) transportation each week for so many of our members and guests. It may be someone needing a lift from the parking lot to worship or a senior adult growth group member needing assistance with a trek over to the “A” building or Nelson House. If you have a warm and friendly attitude, can volunteer one Sunday morning a quarter from 8:00 – 9:45 and again from 10:45 – 11:00, and are 25 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license, the FBC Golf Cart Ministry can use you. If you have any questions, contact Jim Gifford (601-926-9102).
When you serve as an usher, you set the stage for the worship experience by welcoming members and visitors as they enter worship service. Your spiritual readiness and act of service play a huge role in the life-change that takes place during our worship service. Ushers must be willing to wear a warm smile and provide assistance to people who attend the service. Our ushers serve on teams and are asked to serve several weeks throughout the year. For information about how to volunteer as an Usher, contact Chris Graham.
The purpose of our Writing Ministry is to communicate the love and concern of the people at FBCC for our own members and for family and friends of our members who are ill, grieving, or have other specific needs. The group meets each Thursday morning at 9:00 at the church and prays for these people using the Wednesday night prayer meeting prayer request sheet as a guide. Every name is called and any updates are shared before the time of specific prayer for these individuals, families, and caregivers. Each member takes specific names home with them to write a note of encouragement letting those people know of our church’s prayers for them. At least once each month, every person on our church’s homebound, nursing home, assisted living, and military lists receives a card from this group assuring him or her of our love, thoughts, and prayers. For more information, contact Patricia Hasselman.
There are many ways to serve on our worship team. Adult Choir is a great place to start. We also use instrumentalists in the orchestra, singers in the praise team, and soloists. Adult Choir meets on Wednesday at 7:00 in the Choir Suite.
If singing or playing an instrument is not your thing but behind the scenes and technology is, consider serving on our Tech Team. We use volunteers to help with Lighting, Media, and Sound.
